The NP is an expert in pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, pharmacology and exercises authority in health promotion and disease management. The NP functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides a wide range of patient services to a specific patient population across the continuum of health care. By utilizing the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving, NPs practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Medical Staff Executive at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
The Advanced Practice Clinician is involved in supporting and providing patient-centered care in the inpatient unit and ambulatory environments. Our team of dedicated professionals provides care with a collaborative, interdisciplinary, team-based approach. In addition to direct clinical care there are opportunities for professional growth through mentoring residents, nurses, students and other health care professionals. Our goal is to provide clinical services to every patient and their family who trust us with their care.
Open to new graduates or those with experience in other specialties such as hospitalist, critical care, internal medicine that translates well into caring for the oncology population.
Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required.
Two years work experience as a RN required.
Current licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
Must have demonstrated effective skills in consultation.
Certification as an NP in the area of practice specialization is preferred.
