JOB SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Outreach Specialist serves as a liaison between the laboratory of Penn State Health St. Joseph and its clients by overseeing and performing all responsibilities related to this division of laboratory services. The specialist monitors service to clients, assists the clients with both standard and complex needs, and provides feedback to department manager to insure that the established level of quality and service is maintained. The Laboratory Outreach Specialist will research, troubleshoot, document, and work towards resolution all problems that accounts may be experiencing, in order to build and maintain client and physician relationships and drive customer satisfaction and growth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·High School diploma or equivalent required

·Medical laboratory technician, phlebotomy, or other specialized laboratory training required

·Two years previous experience working in a clinical laboratory environment required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

·Broad knowledge of laboratory testing, policies, and procedures.

·Customer service experience

·Medical terminology is helpful

·Must be proficient with use of computers; applications include experience withMicrosoft Outlook, Word, and Excel a must

·Experience with Cerner PathNet helpful

·Must have ability to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast paced environment and must demonstrate good organizational skills, be detail oriented, possess a mature, professional, diplomatic personality and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·Must work well independently with minimal supervision

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·Excellent client service skills

·The ability to work well within a team and the ability to also work independently

·Excellent problem solving skills

·Organized and detailed oriented

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·Medical terminology with medical background and/or some college level science courses preferred

·Experience in a technical lab/phlebotomy setting preferred
