The Medical Assistant / MA is responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments and taking phone messages. Under the direction of a Physician or APC, the Medical Assistant / MA provides care within scope of Medical Assistant Certification or Registration to patients referred to the clinic. The Medical Assistant / MA Functions as a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing routine care under the supervision of a provider to meet patient and provider needs within the practice.
Serves as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students. Responsible for one project or initiative annually in one of the following areas: Services Excellence, Quality, Staff Development, Information Technology, or Medical Group functions.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Medical Assistants must become certified within 90 days of hire OR a Credentialed MA (Certified/Registered).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain within 6 months of employment date.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent oral communication skills required.
Computer skills required.
Associates Degree preferred.
Prior outpatient experience preferred.
