JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Resource Nurse supports the practices in the respective CMG region by serving as part of the clinical nursing member of the regional Quality team. Serving as a resource to practice managers, physician leaders and clinical team leaders. Conducting skills and nursing process assessments of each practice in the region. Providing orientation and education programs for clinical staff. Developing and implementing evidence-based standards of practice, policies and procedures for clinical support functions. Monitoring quality of care and supporting quality improvement initiatives. Ensuring that CMG clinical support policies and procedures are consistent with those of Penn State Health. Serves as the clinical liaison between CMG and other clinical nursing functions of Penn State Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.

Five years' experience in clinical nursing required.

Three years medical group practice or hospital ambulatory/outpatient service leadership required.

Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) and excellent computer skills required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of adult educational principles.

Machinery or Equipment Used: Computer, calculator, photocopier, electronic monitoring and treatment devices, EHR. Telemedicine and nursing equipment used for patient and staff teaching.

Physical Demands: Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Pushes moves or lifts heavy equipment/supplies. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking.

Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to the risks associated with blood-borne pathogens and other infectious and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances (accidents, injuries, illness, and emergent situations). Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and unpredictable work situations. Subject to stressful environment due to multiple demands.

Required Protective Equipment: Includes but not limited to gowns, masks, non-sterile and sterile medical gloves, goggles.
