Responsible for providing the prospective evaluation and monitoring of drug therapy and make patient specific recommendations to improve pharmacotherapy outcomes for hospitalized patients. Provide education regarding drug therapy to health care professionals, patients and caregivers as well as instruct and educate pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.
This Clinical Pharmacist position will support the growing Specialty Pharmacy program. Pulmonology experience a plus. Penn State Health is one of the leading teaching and research hospitals in the country. It is a multi-hospital health system, Academic Medical Center and Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center serving patients and communities across Central Pennsylvania. The system includes Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Children's Hospital, and Penn State Cancer Institute in scenic Hershey, PA, as well as Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital in Reading, PA. Penn State Health shares an integrated strategic plan and operations with Penn State College of Medicine.
Hershey is within a 2-hour drive to weekend destinations such as Philadelphia, Washington DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore, and only a 3-hour drive from New York City. The city offers cultural opportunities, affordable housing, great schools and plenty of outdoor activities.
Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy required.
ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy residency or 3 years of relevant clinical pharmacy experience required.
Active and valid PA licensure or eligibility as a Pharmacist required.
Pulmonology experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to prioritize and organize daily activities to meet patient care needs required.
Effective verbal communication skills, time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities required.
Ability to analyze clinical data and perform calculations.
Computer and Microsoft Office skills required.
Extensive knowledge of pharmacotherapy required.
Attention to detail and critical thinking skills required.
Effective mentoring and precepting abilities required.
