The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine is the oldest academic Family Medicine Department in the country. We are located in Hershey, PA and play an essential role in all of the missions of an academic health center. There are over 100 faculty spread across three geographic locations of Hershey, State College, and Reading.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is searching for a mid-level or senior researcher at the Associate or Full Professor level to lead the department's research efforts. The position is open to physician scientists and doctoral level trained candidates with a research focus linked to primary care. The Vice Chair position includes an endowment, moving expenses, start-up package, and signing bonus. There is an option to include staff and faculty collaborators in the recruitment package. This is a tenure track faculty position.

In addition to continuing their own research interests, the candidate will expand the research portfolio of the department, mentor junior faculty and lead the Penn State Ambulatory Research Network. The position will include a research start-up package and resources to recruit up to five research faculty. The Department has research expertise in Cancer Prevention and Early Detection, Diabetes Type I and II, Health Services Research, Behavioral Health, Obesity/Nutrition, Practice Transformation, Obstetrics, Chronic Disease, Community Outreach and Sports Medicine.

The Department has senior research faculty available for mentoring, dedicated core research support staff, and a community-based research network, including grant writers, IT support, and marketing assistance. The candidate will collaborate on research efforts with the Department of Public Health Sciences, Penn State Cancer Institute, and the Penn State Institute for Personalized Medicine. Access to a biostatistician and quality research experts is also available. There are many opportunities to collaborate with research experts across the many campuses of Penn State University.
