J OB SUMMARY:
Penn State Hershey Medical Center/Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute adult service line is looking for a nurse practitioner to provide services in outpatient services for individuals 18 years of age or older. The program is currently looking to recruit a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMH-CRNP) for an open full time position. Our ideal candidate will be Pennsylvania licensed and have 2-3 years’ experience providing psychiatric care.
General duties of the outpatient aspect of the position will include evaluations, medication management and interaction with clinical and physician staff. Outpatient services will be provided in an outpatient psychiatric clinic located within to the hospital and work with an established collaborative team of behavioral medicine providers.
The NP is an expert in pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, pharmacology and exercises authority in health promotion and disease management. The NP functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides a wide range of patient services to a specific patient population across the continuum of health care. By utilizing the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving, NPs practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Medical Staff Executive at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required.
Two years work experience as a RN required.
Current licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
Must have demonstrated effective skills in consultation.
Certification as an NP in the area of practice specialization is preferred.
